Last week, I was very glad to hear the deputy prime minister, Nick Clegg, return to the topic of youth unemployment, with some concrete proposals for addressing the problem in the worst-affected areas.
It was especially pleasing because Mr Clegg drew heavily on the report of the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisation's (ACEVO) commission on youth unemployment, chaired by ex-Labour minister David Miliband, which came out in February – and has made a real impact.
