Salary: £66,068 - £73,401 per annum.

Our Assistant Director, Transport, Highways & Waste will provide leadership and transformation for a vital portfolio of universal services. You will play a leading role in the delivery of key strategic priorities – to get York moving, to protect the environment and to enable the City's growth for the long term.
About the role
- Reporting to the Director of City and Environmental Services and managing a total expenditure budget of £36 million, you will provide strategic leadership for City of York's transportation, highways and waste services; developing policies, priorities and programmes that will get York moving, protect the environment, enabling growth in a long term way. Key ambitions include creating jobs and growing the economy.
- Key to your role will be the early identification and implementation of the best delivery models for your service areas and applying your commercial expertise to ensuring our ambitions are funded and delivered.
- Building on our strengths and addressing service weaknesses you will develop a culture of excellence that fully recognises and acts on the views of local people and communities. In keeping with our Co-Operative Council ambitions, you will help put residents in the driving seat of service delivery.
- Embracing the importance of outstanding leadership you will build, inspire and motivate a team that delivers outstanding performance outcomes and is committed to ongoing service improvement.
