Backing our young black men and boys in Islington

Growing up today is particularly difficult for many young black men and boys, but a pioneering three-year programme in Islington is focused on creating a better future, says Cllr Kaya Comer-Schwartz.

Growing up in 2022 isn't easy. The Covid-19 pandemic, cost-of-living crisis, and climate emergency have brought with them huge stress and upheaval, and have shone a light on the long-standing inequalities that exist within our society. 

In Islington, we're determined to challenge those inequalities, to tear down the barriers preventing our young people from fulfilling their potential and to give everyone an equal opportunity to thrive.
