Troubled Wirral MBC has announced the appointment of Blackburn with Darwen Council chief executive Graham Burgess as its new interim chief.

Mr Burgess, who is also chief executive of Blackburn with Darwen Care Trust Plus, will retire from his current role and take up the new post for a period of two years.
