Breaking the non-disclosure habit?

Non-disclosure clauses in employment settlements are often being used by employers to cover up complaints of harassment and discrimination, says a select committee report. To what extent is this the case in local government? Ann McGauran reports

The House of Commons' Women and Equalities Committee said last week it is particularly concerned some employers are using non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to avoid investigating unlawful discrimination and harassment complaints and holding perpetrators to account.

Last week's publication of its report into the use of NDAs in discrimination cases was released in the same week as Stratford-on-Avon DC's outgoing head of paid service, Isabel Edgar Briancon, complained about her council's allegedly sexist culture in a now-deleted Facebook post.
