A Budget for growth – so where is the catch?

Chancellor Rishi Sunak's Budget may not have delivered much for council revenues – for adult or children’s social care – but it is squarely aimed at boosting productivity and growth, writes Heather Jameson.

Rishi Sunak's first Budget as chancellor – just weeks into his tenure – was expected to be a coronavirus Budget, but it had just as much to offer in driving economic growth.

There may have been very little in the way of direct cash handouts for councils – and still no sign of a social care solution or a long-term local government funding resolution – but there was a raft of measures to boost local economies across the country.
