Liz Truss has called for rural counties to get the same devolved powers as metro mayors.

Cabinet minister Liz Truss has called for rural counties to get the same devolved powers as metro mayors.

Ms Truss, the chief secretary to the treasury, argued that rural areas could benefit from the same devolution that their urban counterparts such as Manchester had undergone, while praising the mayoral system and the formation of unitary authorities.
