Central Government must get its house in order

As local authorities battle with COVID and a clutch of other crises – all with no long-term funding clarity – Government is distracted with a mixture of the big picture and the trivial, says Heather Jameson.

Last week's popcorn-worthy parliamentary session starring Dominic Cummings told us everything we already knew – the early days of the pandemic were utter chaos at the very top level of Government.

The Prime Minister's former favourite aide wreaked his revenge on his erstwhile boss and colleagues with a long list of damning allegations ranging from incompetence, to dithering, to downright lying.
