We now need certainty on cash in the medium term

We've had the Spending Review, but for Dan Bates, having certainty in the medium-term is just as important as the allocations themselves. He adds: 'That certainty extends to New Homes Bonus and business rates growth reset.'

The general consensus from local government commentators was that the Spending Review was better than expected but not enough to address the funding gap created by previous cuts and the pressures of demand.

Frustratingly, we will have to wait until the provisional settlement in December for most of the specifics, but there is enough information to make an informed guess of what the picture will look like…so here goes!
