The challenge of radical change

Abdool Kara looks at how, in politics, radical changes are not easy to implement when a party is in power.

Everyone must have heard of ‘second album' syndrome – referring to the fact that those ‘popular beat combos' who have a successful first album often struggle to repeat their success with a second offering.

The underlying reason for this is simple – a band may have spent many years becoming good enough and famous enough to get a record deal, so had many years' worth of songs to choose from for their first album.
