Chancellor's 'age of optimism' doesn't ring true for council finances

The Spending Review did not bring funding back to anything like 2010 levels and London boroughs are left facing £400m losses over the next two years, says Cllr Darren Rodwell.

I wish London boroughs could share the chancellor's view that we're now in an age of optimism.

After all, we're entirely agreed on the positive ambitions of building back better after the pandemic and levelling up the UK's disadvantaged communities.
