Chancellor has sector's support to find funding solutions

Nicole Wood says the financial picture is bleak but chancellor Rachel Reeves has plenty of support from within the sector to find sustainable funding solutions for local government.

The Prime Minister has addressed the state of public finances. He emphasised a painful Budget to come and inheriting a £22bn economic black hole.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves will deliver her Budget on 30 October, warning of difficult spending choices and tax rises. But there are also choices around investment – special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) has a requirement that extends beyond its service, into the sustainability of local government.
