Senior officers' organisation Solace has called for a £250m a year Government investment in professional training to support the development of the sector's workforce.

Asking for a ‘long overdue boost in leadership support', Solace said the figure represented 6% in what was invested annually in the NHS workforce, which is of equivalent size, and was similar to the Government's plans to invest £270m annually in professional development for headteachers.
