Children's services in England need an ‘emergency cash injection' in the Budget to deal with ‘record' numbers of cases, the Local Government Association (LGA) has urged.

The umbrella body pointed out in the last financial year there were 225,400 child protection investigations - up from 217,800 in the same 12 months the year before and 201,170 in 2019.
