Conference hears tourist tax call

The Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) has used its annual conference to call for fiscal devolution, including a tourist tax.

The Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) has used its annual conference to call for fiscal devolution, including a tourist tax.

COSLA's latest intervention came as the Scottish Government consults on the benefits of enabling councils to charge tourist taxes though First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said there were no plans to introduce such a levy amid opposition from the Scottish Tourism Alliance.
