Council chief departs after months of speculation

Somerset CC chief executive Sheila Wheeler has left the authority ‘by mutual agreement’ after months of speculation over her departure.

Somerset CC chief executive Sheila Wheeler has left the authority ‘by mutual agreement' after months of speculation over her departure. 

A council statement on her departure said: ‘Sheila's arrival at the council in February 2010 coincided with the first austerity measures coming into force resulting in major budget cuts.
