Council leaders in plea to bring local services into Treasury ring-fence

The Government should widen the ring-fencing of health and schools budget to include other frontline services, according to the LGA.

The Government should extend the ring-fencing of health and schools budget to embrace other frontline services, the Local Government Association (LGA) has urged.

Yesterday, the Department for Communities and Local Government confirmed local government would not be impacted by the announcement seven departments have already struck deals with the Treasury to cut their budgets by around 10% in 2015/16.
