Councils are benched in the King's Speech

It is disappointing to see nothing to resolve the woes of the sector in the King's Speech, says Heather Jameson – 'or to indicate councils may just provide some of the solutions for national issues'.

Maybe it is unsurprising that the King's Speech was a bit of damp squib for local government.

With the ink barely dry on the Levelling Up and Regeneration Act – a mammoth legislative tome with countless baubles hooked on – you could argue local government has had its fair share of Parliamentary attention.
