Councils have made a plea to the Government for powers and resources to bolster community cohesion in the face of the ongoing threat of extremism.

Councils have made a plea to the Government for powers and resources to bolster community cohesion in the face of the ongoing threat of extremism.

While the Government was successful in quelling the disorder over the summer by ensuring people involved were prosecuted, both right-wing and Islamic extremists continue to pose a threat, fuelled by discontent over austerity and the cost of living crisis.
