Councils faced with 20,000 homeless families

English councils were approached by more than 20,000 families concerned about homelessness in just three months, according to the latest Government figures.

English councils were approached by more than 20,000 families concerned about homelessness in just three months, according to the latest Government figures.

As lockdown restrictions were lifted between April and June, 20,850 families were found by local authorities to be either homeless or at risk of homelessness – despite the eviction ban being in place for most of the period.
