Plans are being drawn up that will give councils more of a say in where asylum seekers are accommodated.

The Local Government Association (LGA) and the Home Office are holding meetings to develop a plan to create a ‘fair and equitable asylum dispersal system' but they warned it would 'not be achieved on day one of the new contract'.
