Two councils have been urged to ‘move on’ from merger proposals that have failed to get off the ground after a decade of sharing officers.

Two councils have been urged to ‘move on' from merger proposals that have failed to get off the ground after a decade of sharing officers.

A corporate peer challenge by the Local Government Association (LGA) concluded that Babergh and Mid-Suffolk DCs' shared partnership was 'successful' but that ‘without sufficient political support for a full merger, consideration needs to be given to close the debate in order to move on'.
