Councils urged to press for greater local control

According to the Local Government Association(LGA) councils should press Whitehall for greater local control to boost economic growth.

Councils should press Whitehall for greater local control to boost economic growth and employment, according to the Local Government Association (LGA).

Peter Box, chair of the LGA's Economy and Transport Board, said that while many councils have already secured local deals with Government to localise a range of issues, they should press for greater decentralisation of power.
