Tackling corruption and increasing political competitiveness is more important than cutting jobs in the public sector.

Tackling corruption and increasing political competitiveness is more important than cutting jobs in the public sector, according to new research published by the University of Leicester.

The study found that 'hasty' cuts in public services will simply reduce economic activity. Instead, it argues that politicians should concentrate on improving institutional quality – such as stamping out corruption and having more political competition – as it would be better in reducing the size of the public sector.
