The Government failed to ask councils for help contacting vulnerable shielding people for weeks after lockdown began, it has been claimed.

The Government failed to ask councils for help contacting vulnerable shielding people for weeks after lockdown began, it has been claimed.

MPs on the Public Accounts Committee heard that the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) was passed the details of 1.8m people asked to shield because they were classed as ‘clinically extremely vulnerable' so they could be offered deliveries of food and medical supplies.
