Derby spending clampdown to close budget gap

Officers at Derby City Council have been told to clamp down on spending as the authority heads for a budget overspend this year.

Officers at Derby City Council have been told to clamp down on spending as the authority heads for a budget overspend this year.

Derby's predicted budget gap stands at £5.8m against a budget of £220.6m, with officers reporting there are ‘insufficient uncommitted balances in the budget risk reserve to contain the current forecast overspend'.
