Looking back to 2014 from our elevated position at the start of the 2020s, it is really difficult to see what all the fuss was all about!
We have now got a robust set of 28 local authorities in England, each with the mayor now well established in their first – sometimes second term of office. The local committees below can be a bit hit and miss, with some still clinging to the last vestiges of autonomy, and regrettably, there is not a great deal of appeal for these bodies as voter turnouts are hitting new lows.
