The social media genie has long since been let out of the bottle. Phil Drury explains how Boston BC is harnessing platforms like Twitter to engage with residents and protect the council’s reputation.

Councils have some big issues to deal with and the small stuff can easily fade into the background. But, by and large, it is the small stuff that really matters to residents on a day-to-day basis.

Turn the borrowed adage from across the pond on its head and do sweat the small stuff. Litter, irresponsible dog areas, rubbish collections. These are just three of the routine issues that regularly rear their heads in our small corner of the world.
