Collaboration and sharing is hard-wired into the human brain, and we should use it, writes Newark & Sherwood DC chief.

We're all sharing something, pooling resources or collaborating in some way or another these days. Aren't we?

Pushed by economic imperative or pulled by the attraction of making public resources stretch further, sharing is bread and butter stuff for most of local government these days.

Our latest steps on this journey involve a collaboration agreement with neighbouring boroughs Rushcliffe and Gedling. This is based on a commitment to a longer term and more systematic approach to sharing and mutual support which will help save money and build resilience.
