Do more, talk less

Plaintive anguish is no longer good enough when it comes to increasing increasing the number of people from diverse backgrounds in leadership positions, writes Dame Jane Roberts.

I am bored with the debate about increasing the diversity of councillors. Plaintive anguish is not good enough.

We know what to do if we really want to see a better balance of elected representatives in local government in terms of gender, age, socio-economic class (often not mentioned), ethnic background and disability.
