Easing the cash flow

Martin Ford looks at the reaction to the first set of capitalisation directions given to councils struggling under the financial weight of COVID.

The first of what promises to be many capitalisation directions has been made by local government secretary Robert Jenrick.

It was greeted by headlines of Government ‘bailouts' that seized on accusations of ‘very poor management' by Mr Jenrick.
