The abolition of the Audit Commission (above) has led the sector to ‘divergence' and now to ‘disarray,' one of local government's leading chief executives has claimed.

In the latest Local Government Leaders podcast, Lewisham LBC boss, Barry Quirk, claimed the watchdog's Comprehensive Performance Assessments provided a ‘template for councils' looking for best practice.
