Engineer Street Lighting & Traffic Signals

In the Technical Section. These posts will provide technical and general engineering support within the Technical Section to assist their respective Technical Officer including:

* Assisting with review and/or approval of the PFI Provider's
* Scheme designs
* Annual programmes
* Weekly, monthly & annual monitoring reports
* Performance
* Assisting and advising Technicians and Inspectors to carry out sample inspections and investigation as required by the Technical Officer to ensure the PFI Contractor is delivering service standards and outputs in line with the requirements of the Contract

You will have technical expertise in the relevant technical area, be educated to degree level and be working towards a relevant professional qualification or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of competency through practical experience.

Sheffield is one of the UK's largest cities and has been transformed over the last 10 years with major investment in regeneration and infrastructure. One of the final pieces of the jigsaw to fulfil the Council's Vision of being a modern vibrant city is to bring the city's highway infrastructure up to standard.

The Council is currently going through the final stages of procurement to appoint a Service Provider for a 25 year Highway Maintenance PFI Contract, commencing in mid 2012 to improve the condition of the highway network over the initial core investment period (5 - 7 years) and to sustain this condition over the remaining period (18 - 20 years).

The Council is in the process of establishing a new Service with responsibility for highway maintenance in the city, primarily through the strategic and operational management of the PFI Contract.

The Council is looking for suitably experienced people with drive, enthusiasm and commitment to fill the following posts in the new Service.
