Councils could be forced to allow people known to have COVID-19 come into polling stations to vote in the elections next year under plans being considered by the Government.

Under the isolation rules, there are already exemptions which allow people with coronavirus – or those who are self-isolating – to go out to access basic necessities or attend a funeral. The Government is now looking at including permission to attend a polling station.
