Extra funding for fraud clampdown

A range of council-led projects to claw back billions of pounds of taxpayers’ money lost every year to fraud will receive extra Government funding, communities minister Lord Ahmad has announced.

A range of council-led projects to claw back billions of pounds of taxpayers' money lost every year to fraud will receive extra Government funding, communities minister Lord Ahmad has announced. 

The Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) said it was providing a further £16m to councils that were ‘raising their game through a range of innovative projects across the country to tackle fraud'.
