Almost half of council chief executives have taken up their roles in the last three years, research shared exclusively with The MJ has revealed.

The data compiled by recruitment firm Penna found 141 (45%) out of 311 chiefs have been appointed since 2022, after an exodus prompted by major events that prompted people to reconsider their lives, including Brexit, two General Elections and the Covid pandemic.
