The Government has taken the next step towards modernising the administration of business rates to ‘make them fit for the 21st century'.

Proposed legislation would give HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) the power to undertake the preparatory work on its commitment to link its digital tax accounts with local authority business rate systems after 2024.
