Getting out of the mire

Adele Taylor's new authority is in intervention. 'You don’t often get the chance to rip things apart and have people wanting you to make that change.'

In the last six weeks I've moved to a new job in a local authority that is in intervention.

Whenever you start a new job there is always that first day at school feeling where your usual internal networks have been completely broken: needing to navigate your way through different processes and procedures; identify top priorities; and even learn to work your way round new buildings, systems, cultures and try and remember lots of new names.
