Nearly 40% of ex-council homes in Wandsworth are now owned by private landlords as a result of the Right to Buy scheme, an investigation by trade union GMB has found.
The figures, obtained through searching the Land Registry, found that of the 15,874 dwellings acquired under the legislation, 6,180 are now rented to private tenants. There are 977 private landlords that own more than one of these properties, with one landlord owning a possible 93 in total.
