GMB Scotland urges 'no' vote to Scottish independence

GMB Scotland will be campaigning for a no vote in the 2014 referendum on Independence, but is calling for greater devolution to local authorities.

GMB Scotland will be campaigning for a no vote in the 2014 referendum on Independence, but is calling for greater devolution to local authorities.

GMB Scotland said while it had chosen to support a no vote, its members had expressed deep desire for change and would be calling for further devolution of powers.

Harry Donaldson, GMB Scotland secretary, said: ‘For the vision of social and economic change that emerged from the consultation GMB Scotland want to see a programme to deliver this.

‘So as well as campaigning for a no vote GMB Scotland will be campaigning for a policy to seek further devolution of much more power to the people, to local authorities and communities across Scotland, UK and EU.'
