Got to have faith

With an Ipos Mori poll suggesting the public are twice as likely to trust councillors over cabinet ministers, Ben Page reflects on what this means for decision making in local government

I come with good news. The public are about twice as likely to trust many of the readers of this column as they are cabinet ministers.

Some 43% say they trust local councillors to tell the truth and 37% council managers. Cabinet ministers have a much lower level of trust (22%) below estate agents, journalists and bankers.
