A select committee has demanded local government secretary Michael Gove appears before them after their recommendations for a governance overhaul were snubbed.

A select committee has demanded local government secretary Michael Gove appears before them after their recommendations for a governance overhaul were snubbed.

The Government today rejected the call by the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee for a cross-party commission on governance arrangements in England, describing the central recommendation as not ‘proportionate or desirable'.
