The Government's solution to 'troubled families'

Harry Phibbs says some councils have not grasped the idea of localism.

I've been reading, It's all news to me, the engaging memoirs of the BBC broadcaster Jeremy Vine.

He recalls the former Labour Government's health secretary, Alan Johnson, being a guest on his Radio 2 programme to discuss a £780m drive to curb obesity. During the phone-in section, 'Doris' from Rotherham, says: 'If you give obese people £780m, they're just going to spend it on food.'
