Head of Business Improvement - Street Scene

Use innovative thinking to build a better environment for Barnet.

At the London Borough of Barnet, we believe in making changes that will bring positive results. Our goal is to serve our community to the best of our ability and we place the people of Barnet at the heart of everything we do. Establishing better ways of working is important, but it's the impact they have on our borough that's paramount. We're undertaking a major transformation to bring commissioning to the heart of what we do.

Reporting to the Street Scene Assistant Director, you'll play an integral role in the success of our Street Scene Delivery Unit. As well as monitoring local contracts and checking they meet our standards, you'll have the chance to seek innovation at every level, adapting your approach to ensure we get the possible services. It's a role that will lead the challenge of resolving strategic and operational issues, with the chance to work with a range of partners, commissioning services and using these partnerships creatively, to bring strategic improvements. To achieve the best outcomes for the Council and the people of Barnet, you'll need to stay within budgets and make the most of resources.

A degree (or equivalent) is essential, along with a good understanding of local authorities. However, success also requires a proven ability to deliver change and a track record of leading teams to achieve results. Strong communication skills will be crucial too, especially when inspiring performance and building relationships with partners. If you're a capable manager with good analytical skills and a gift for strategic thinking, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
