You'll change our culture and transform lives. You matter. At Buckinghamshire County Council, we want to help all of our residents live their lives to the full. But we know that in some families, things aren't that simple. Which is why we're so committed to offering support that safeguards vulnerable children and ultimately, gives them a better start in life.
The role
You will be part of our Senior Management Team and play a key role in the radical changes we're making to effect new ways of working in line with the ‘reclaiming social work' model. You will be jointly responsible for running a Children in Need service that is currently dealing with 1,000 contacts a month, and up to 300 children with child protection plans. A key element of your role will be driving change in our culture so as to improve outcomes, promote efficiency and develop and support practice, helping us to embed a systemic approach. Your role will also involve developing strong local partnerships and multi agency working.
Your skills and experience
We're looking for a qualified social worker with exceptional leadership and management skills as well as substantial and diverse experience in children's services. That experience will have given you an in-depth knowledge of relevant national and local issues, as well as a sound knowledge of the current legislation and guidance on safeguarding children and young people. You'll also know how to manage significant budgets, work effectively with partner agencies and use data strategically. This is a high profile role so a degree is a must, as are excellent communication, presentation and relationship building skills. Above all, you'll be passionate about making such a crucial service the very best it can be.
Buckinghamshire County Council will support you with all the resources needed to help you meet the demands of a challenging job. We believe in backing and supporting successful, talented people, who are proud to work for Bucks CC – a top-rated council – and who want to make a difference to improving people's lives. We are committed to ensuring that our best asset – our people – benefit from rewarding careers, growing and working with us to meet the challenges of a changing environment.
