30 hours make the difference

Staffordshire CC is one of eight authorities piloting the Department for Education’s 30 hours scheme from September 2016. The scheme is proving successful in helping get back into work or take on more hours, writes Mark Sutton.

It was flattering to have children's minister Nadhim Zahawi MP visit Staffordshire recently to see for himself the success of the 30 hours free childcare provision in the county.

Although it is pleasing Staffordshire has the highest number of codes issued in the Midlands, the real satisfaction is knowing how the scheme is making a difference to people's lives.
