How long is a week?

Despite the potential for negative headlines, councils cannot afford to ignore the potential benefits of moving to a four-day week, says Aidan Rave.

Local government minister Lee Rowley recently called out South Cambridgeshire DC for having the temerity to experiment with a four-day week.

Now, setting aside for a moment the questions raised by this rather egregious example of central interference in local affairs, the case does raise some interesting issues about work practices in the sector and where they are in relation to the wider economy.
