Cheshire East Council could be left facing a section 114 notice unless it receives Government compensation for cuts to the High Speed 2 (HS2) rail link.

Officers said in a report to members this week the cancellation of the northern leg, which would have linked the area at Crewe station, will have ‘devasting consequences'.
