The human balancing act

Richard Crouch assesses social employment and fears a diminishing ‘human’ contribution in public sector reform.

There continues to be much talk on the state of the economy, but to date, what real debate has there been on the human dimension – the people within our societies who are impacted by the economy, contribute to it and draw on it?

The current economic position and predictions for the future all point to the rather sad fact that that the balance of human contribution to the economy is, and will continue to be, less than that which many citizens actually draw on.
