PLACE-MAKING

In any organisation a search for cuts and efficiencies eventually delivers diminishing returns. Then you have to find new ways to do things. We can make 2025 the year three proven ideas are combined locally so public services work differently and better, saving a pile of money at the same time. That would also grow trust in government which is arguably at an all-time low.

The first idea is that a sequence of unrelated transactions with a host of public services is not the best way to help people in difficulty. A better way is to work with them as a whole person through one trusted relationship. Then they are supported over time to find the best way forward, with their abilities and hopes – not just their problems – front and centre.
